Being a successful event planner in the entertainment industry requires a lot of hard work, trust, and a
code of ethics. As an aspiring event planner, I began to search for an organization with professionals
that will provide guidance to newcomers like me who wish to be successful in the event industry.
Luckily, I came across an association that is worth joining and I had to share it with you! On this
special blog topic, I will talk about the Event Planners Association (EPA) and what they are doing to
empower small business owners in the event and amusement industry today!
The EPA was created
in 2004 as a response to the needs of struggling small business owners in the
event and amusement industry. Today, it has become a full-service community organization
where small business owners can network, share ideas, and gain access to business resources.
What does the EPA do?
“Our mission is to provide the foundational elements of a successful business and facilitate
the highest standards of excellence and professionalism.” ~~EPA
EPA is dedicated to
helping their members in the event and amusement industry stay relevant in a
competitive world. Through their professional
support system, members have access to insurance services, Internet marketing,
legal assistance, and affinity program discounts. Networking events are also held
throughout the year to share insight from top industry professionals in various fields and
to educate their members about any new industry trends.
EPA members are able to maintain their professional standards through their
code of ethics. This requires that members agree to raise the bar in their chosen industries by staying relevant and competitive within their industries. Members are also encouraged to attend continuing education programs "to enhance their knowledge base and raise their level of professionalism."
(More details about their code of ethics can be found here.)
Why join the EPA?
The event industry will always play a vital role in the world of
entertainment and EPA is determined to assist small business owners in
maintaining their competitive presence. Whether it is to display the next lineup of
electronic equipment, hold a musical performance, house a fundraiser, or plan a wedding, EPA offers the resources to make your creative ideas a
reality!
